Tennessee was named an EPSCoR state, effective November 1, 2003. EPSCoR is a program designed to fulfill the National Science Foundation's mandate to promote scientific progress nationwide. The EPSCoR program is directed at those states that have historically received lesser amounts of federal Research and Development funding. For more information about EPSCoR, click here.
EDUCATION ON THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS - In accordance with education in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) initiated by the Office of Research Integrity of NIH, The University of Memphis has developed a curriculum and resource materials to educate students and faculty in the major domains of RCR. Complete review of this curriculum is a minimum requirement for faculty and students engaged in sponsored and non-sponsored research involving human subjects at the University of Memphis. In addition, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) requires that all investigators and senior personnel complete education on the protection of human subjects before an NIH award is made. Instructions for the use of the modules and a link to the training may be found on the University of Memphis Human Subjects Research website.
The University of Memphis Indirect Cost Rate Agreement, dated 08/22/07, is effective until amended after 07/01/08. The rates are as follows: (1) Research 39.5% on-campus; 26.0% off-campus (2) Instruction 52.0 on-campus; 26.0% off-campus and (3) Other 40.0% on-campus; 26.0% off-campus. Off-campus rates only apply to projects that are performed in facilities not owned by the University of Memphis and to which rent is directly allocated to the project. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY DATABASE available to University of Memphis faculty, staff, and students - The University of Memphis subscribes to COS, a web-based system that includes a database of funding opportunities, a database of investigator profiles, and a matching e-mail alert service.
