TO: TENURED AND TENURE-TRACK FACULTY

FROM: ANDREW MEYERS, VICE PROVOST FOR RESEARCH

SUBJECT: FACULTY RESEARCH GRANTS

DATE: AUGUST 25, 2005

Do you have a research project in mind? Could you use funding? If you answered yes to either question, then apply for a Faculty Research Grant. Last spring the university awarded $118,981 to 21 applicants for the fiscal year 2005-06.

Applications for Faculty Research Grants must be submitted by 4:30 pm Tuesday, January 31, 2006 to the Office of the Vice Provost for Research in Administration 308. FRG proposal forms are available on the web at: http://academics.memphis.edu/researchsupport/frg06.html.

  • Applications from faculty who have not submitted a report on previous awards will not be considered. Proposals that do not follow the guidelines or proposals with the application not completed in full will be returned without review.

A faculty member will not be eligible for more than one award within any five-year period.

When graduate student salaries are included, coverage of summer tuition and fees should be described.

Funds to cover the cost of publications will not receive a high priority unless such funds are to be reimbursed from royalties or other sources or the publication is judged to offer the University an opportunity to obtain other external funds or value.

  • The project description requirements have been revised somewhat; consequently, the Reviewer Evaluation Page has also been revised.
