COS Funding Opportunity and Expertise Databases
The University of Memphis subscribes to COS, a web-based funding opportunity and expertise system for use by University of Memphis faculty, staff, and students. COS includes a searchable database of funding opportunities; a searchable database of scientific and scholarly expertise by organizational subscriber; and an individualized e-mail matching alert service. COS Funding Opportunities contains approximately 23,000 records on funding from a variety of sources, including federal agencies, private and corporate foundations, service organizations, etc. The COS funding opportunities database identifies funding information in all disciplines related to research and scholarly activities, collaborative activities, travel, curriculum development, conferences, fellowships, post-doctoral positions, and equipment acquisition. COS Expertise provides a network for promoting collaboration among University of Memphis researchers as well as with a variety of other universities, R & D companies, government agencies, and private foundations. COS Funding Alert, is a weekly e-mail notification system that alerts COS members to newly available funding information matching individual research interests and expertise. The Funding Alert is based on the searches that you create in your COS account/workbench. The Office of Research Support acts as the liaison office for COS. We are available to answer questions about any aspect of COS and will also provide individual or group instruction on the use of COS.
